Newsletter September 2020

In News, Newsletters by Sue Broughton

Dear Club Member,

We trust you are all keeping safe and well. We hope you enjoyed last month’s challenge to paint a portrait of your favourite pet or animal and thank you to those who have shared with us their beautiful drawings of a chimpanzee, an otter and a dog with puppies, which are on the web site.

Once again, many thanks to Chris, Sue and Lesley for our fantastic new web site and to all those committee members, especially Lesley, who are currently working very hard to ensure that the 2020 Exhibition goes ahead successfully.

Thank you for all your Entry Form 1 submissions. Please help us by

  •   Reading the Conditions of Entry and Procedure carefully (any queries, please ask)
  •   Turning up at the correct time on Friday 4th September, with your labelled exhibits, a pen for completing the club labels and Entry Form 2
  •   Offering to steward – all offers will be appreciated – please contact Lesley on the club email below or volunteer when you come to hand in your work.
  •   Coming at your allotted time on Sunday 13th September to collect your unsold work (this will be agreed with you when you hand in).

Outdoor Painting Days:

A group of us enjoyed the opportunity to paint at Hutton le Hole on 13th August, which fortunately turned out to be a cloudy day so the village was less busy. The location for the last OPD of the season on Wednesday 16th September will be at Thornton le Dale, rather than Sutton Bank. We felt this would provide more space for social distancing and be easier while car sharing is not recommended. Meet on the NYM Lakeside Car Park at 10am. (parking charges apply)

Calendar Results are available to view on the web site, but unfortunately there have been problems with printing, so we will let you know when the finished calendars are available to purchase. Thank you for all your votes.

October 1st Demonstration Evening;

We are delighted to inform you that this will go ahead as government guidance and arrangements at The Memorial Hall stand at the moment. Patrick Smith will be ‘Exploring Landscape’. He is an enthusiastic and inspiring demonstrator who works in acrylic paint to produce semi-abstract interpretations of the moors. For this event, we will need to be distanced on entry and when in the Whistler Hall. Masks will need to be worn and there will be no refreshments or raffle. If you wish to be one of the 30 people allowed, please contact Diana Smith on the club email with the subject ‘OCT DEMO’ or on 01751 467036.

September ChallengeClub Logo We would like you to design a new “logo” for the club!
It needs to be small, have an arty theme, and does not need any text. It needs to look good in both colour and black and white. The closing date will be 30th November and we look forward to seeing your ideas as photos to the club email, please.

Looking forward to seeing you at the Exhibition,
Best Wishes from your VOPAC committee.
