Newsletter 2/21 February 2021
The committee hope you are all keeping well and safe at home, and using art to keep a positive outlook.
As you may have anticipated, we have sadly had to cancel the March demonstration with Mary Wells, and the workshop with Heather Burton. Peter Reynold’s April Demonstration has also been postponed until April 2022.
Naturally, as everything is uncertain and up in the air, we are continually striving to adapt as we go along. We will resume our activities as soon as it is safe to do so, possibly starting with some Outdoor Painting Days in April, as these are a safer option for the time being.
Would any of you be interested in a Zoom demonstration or workshop, arranged by the club for one of our usual monthly meeting times? It would not cost you anything, but you would need to download Zoom (free) to join in. Please let us know what you feel by the end of February, and we will arrange some if there is enough interest.
The AGM which is usually held in February has been postponed until the August monthly meeting on Thursday 12th. We then hope to follow the formal meeting with the Annual Painting Challenge Review. That’s the plan, anyway!
With the AGM in mind, there are some changes to the committee that will come into force on the due date of the AGM – February 11th.
Three members will be leaving the committee, after many years of dedicated and inspirational service; Diana Smith, who has been Secretary, Treasurer, Events organiser and Chair and everything in between; Peter Davison – Exhibition organiser and Vice Chair amongst other things and last but not least, Renee Clark, who has kept us all on track as Membership Secretary and all round good adviser.
I hope you will join me in thanking them for their unstinting efforts to keep us all inspired and together as a friendly and inclusive art club.
Due to such exceptional times, two new members have agreed to be co-opted onto the committee to take up the reigns, and will hopefully be voted on in the normal way at the delayed AGM in August. They are Steve Cooper and Krystina Hilton. The committee welcomes them on board, and hope that members will do so too.
Steve and Krystina will bring the committee up to 7 members, which is less than our ideal number of at least 10.
We have several jobs on the committee that we could really do with some help with. Secretary, Assistant Camera Operator (for when we resume demos),
Anyone with a knowledge of WordPress or websites, who could help Sue keep our members up to date with news and arty challenges (more urgent).
If any of you feel you could help out and would like further information, don’t hesitate to email the club, or phone Lesley 07792 952926.
This month’s photograph came from Malcolm Short, who suggested the timely, colourful subject of Sunrises and Sunsets.
You can use the photo he kindly provided, or your own. Have a go, splash some colour about, and don’t forget to send in your good quality images so we can all enjoy them.
Best Wishes from your VOPAC committee.
