Newsletter 10/20 Oct 2020

Dear Club Member,

Welcome to the latest news from your club. The committee hope you are all keeping well and artistically inspired as autumn approaches.

Last Wednesday saw the return of evening practicals, in the Whistler Room of the Memorial Hall. Lynette organises these sessions and ensures that all surfaces are wiped down before and after use. Masks are worn and the participants bring all their own materials and refreshments and sit at separate tables, well distanced. A subject will be supplied for drawing or painting. All these measures make the evening as safe as is possible whilst providing a welcome chance to socialise and practice a little art. We hope to be able to hold the November session on the 18th at 7pm but this will depend, of course, on the current guidelines at that time. If you would like to go along on the 18th November, please contact Lynette (07736 240496) to check the session will be run.

A new art programme ‘Drawers Off’ is planned by ITV studios, and they are asking for club members to join them. It is a life drawing programme, and would involve people taking turns to draw, paint and model for each other, all whilst being filmed. If you are feeling brave enough, the details can be found through this link

Hurry though, the deadline for entries is 1st November 2020.

It would be great to see any of your work you may have been doing in the last few weeks. There is still time to enter a club logo, the winner of which will be decided by the committee and used for the club promotional materials.

Monthly Challenge – Autumn Colours

There is no time limit on our monthly challenge paintings or drawings, all are welcome at any time, so get out those brushes and have a go. This month of course we couldn’t resist the autumn colours that are building around us. There is a committee member’s photo for you to use if you wish, or any of your own can be used, but do send them in if you would like to share your efforts, so we can see them on our website. We could all do with a splash of colour in our lives at the moment. Ideas for the November challenge are welcome from any member, just email or phone Lesley on 07792 952926. Thank you.

Membership Renewal

In previous years we have sent out our renewal packs during November, in time for the start of the club year in January. This year will be a little different as events are still unfolding regarding Coronavirus. We very much hope to hold our usual demonstrations next year, all are booked, but in recognition of the disruption this year and the loss of 7 demonstrations, we are proposing the membership fee for 2021 will be just £10 for those who joined at the start of last year. Any new members from the time of the exhibition onwards have already been informed they will not need to pay again. The renewal forms will come through a little later too, but we hope you will all stick with us to look forward to a brighter future and the pleasure we hope you have gained form our activities.

Best Wishes from your VOPAC committee.
