We hope you are continuing to avoid the virus and are keeping active. We have additional short message or two for you: Firstly the December Wednesday evening practical on 16th has been cancelled due to the ongoing Covid situation. We hope you aren’t too dissappointed and understand that we all need to keep distant to keep safe.
Secondly on a brighter note, we have been approached by Les Darlow, a popular demonstrator of pastels whom some of you have requested for a demonstration. He works in soft pastels and Pan Pastels usually landscapes and seascapes. His work can be found here: https://www.lesdarlow.com.
Again, due to Covid, Les has had to change the way he teaches and is offering online demonstrations (You Tube) and for a greater interaction with him, paint-along sessions (cost £7) and workshops on Zoom where you get close interaction with your work for 3 to 4 hours. These workshops are limited to 5 or 6 people and cost £29.95.
From Les Darlow:“Hi there, my name is Les Darlow and I just wanted to introduce my self as a professional Artist, Tutor and Demonstrator specialising in Pastel and PanPastelI have been teaching for many years mainly in the North of England where I am from. Obviously with the pandemic, teaching in the field is out of the question and so is demonstrating. But with the technology today and advanced teaching apps such as Zoom, we can now resume teaching and demonstrating online. Its fun too, and far better than most people think, and very easy to navigate. I have presenting Zoom Demos and workshops for a while now and would like to offer my services to you should you wish. if you would like to know more, call me on 07900 576 840 for a chat. Many people think you have to download software and install thing, but you can simply watch a demo through your browser. I present demonstrations in an informative, fun way, relaxed and welcoming.I have attached a few images of a recent demo, the two paintings I did in the 1.30min session and I presented this to many people around the world, which is wonderful to connect to everyone. So if you are thinking of arranging demos or workshops for your members online via Zoom, think global, you can literally have any artist.I can also work an image of screen shares during a workshop, where I can bring up an image and begin to annotate it, and use this just as a black board.I am a pastel specialist, landscapes, Skies and Seascapes are my main areas, but I do offer much more.I have a demonstration on Friday the 20th at 9am and another at 3.15pm if you could let your members know I would be extremely grateful.
The next workshop is on December 3rd and 4th and there is a Paint-along on 23rd November. If you are interested, give him a ring, he’s very friendly to chat to.VOPAC do not have any connection with Les, nor do we particularly endorse him. There are many other artists offering demonstrations for free on You Tube. However, we felt the opportunity of being able to participate in a workshop may interest some of you.
