Newsletter 05/22 May 2022

 Dear Club Member,

We really do hope that you are enjoying the Spring, and hoping for better warmer weather. We look forward to seeing you on the outdoor painting days.  The National Railway Museum was an enjoyable day and it was great to see some of our newer members joining in.

The next day out is at the North York Moors Centre at Danby on Thursday 19th May.

Come and have a go, it is great fun.   Get in touch if a lift is required.

Our main event of the month is the demonstration by Yorkshire artist, Andrew Storrie. The subject is a country scene in watercolour.

This demonstration takes place on Thursday 12th May at 7pm in the Whistler Hall.

We will still be practicing our Covid precautions, i.e., spacing, masks if wished, clean hands, etc. Refreshments will be available at this event. We will also be adopting Covid safe practices in the kitchen.

The 3rd Wednesday group will be meeting on the 18th May at 7pm in the Mill Suite. The subject is “party”.  You can of course work on your own project.

The Heather Burton palette Knife workshop takes place on the 8th May (Sunday).  If you could not attend the previous earlier date, and would like to do it now, please let us know.  There are a couple of spaces available. The subsidized cost is £35.

We have been approached by a representative of the Encephalitis Society about an exhibition in June, in York

You are invited to submit a postcard size painting for sale for this exhibition.

Please note that you do not require to be on twitter, if you wish to take part.

The Society has provided a label which is not the correct size. You can print and use it but please be aware that your postcard must be the right size. There is more information on the second page of this Newsletter.

Happy painting from your VOPAC Committee

I am getting in touch regarding the upcoming Twitter Art Exhibit (TAE), taking place in York on the 25th and 26th of June.
The TAE is an annual charity art event open to professional and amateur artists, and we would be delighted if any of your members would like to get involved.
Artists are invited to create a postcard-sized piece of artwork which will be displayed alongside pieces of art submitted by hundreds of other creatives based around the world. The postcards will be displayed at the exhibition being held at the stunning Hiscox Building in York this June, and will be available to purchase at the exhibition or online the following week. All pieces of art will be sold for £30, with proceeds of this year’s exhibit benefiting the Encephalitis Society, a Malton-based charity providing support and information to the 500,000 people affected each year by encephalitis, a devastating neurological condition.
More information and FAQs on participating are available through the TAE website:
If you would like to get involved, or if you have any questions, please contact or call +44(0)1653 692583
In addition:
If any members would like to get involved, they can leave the Twitter details blank if they would prefer (or they can put the contact details of the club on the back).
All they need to do to take part is complete as much of the attached backing card and label as possible, and post/drop off at our office here in Malton: Encephalitis Society, 32 Castlegate, Malton, North Yorkshire YO17 7DT
The submission deadline of 22nd April was for anyone who wanted to have their postcard included in the TAE brochure. However, as long as we receive any postcards by mid-June then they will be featured at the main exhibit in June and in the online sale afterwards 😊
