Memories of the Languedoc
Works in Watercolour and produces paintings in a very individual style, investigating layering found in aspects of nature, particularly within plants and flowers. He is bold in his handling of bright colour and is inspired by his regular visits to France.
Thursday 9th April 20 - Mary Wells
Still life with flowers
Mary is an enthusiastic, confident and inspiring demonstrator. Pastels are her favourite medium and she will be showing us how to tackle a still life
subject set up in the room.
Thursday 14th May 20 - James McGairy
Palette Knife Techniques
James is a very experienced tutor and demonstrator, who draws inspiration from the
Moors, Dales and coast. He often returns to familiar subjects, invariably finding a
fresh view and changing with the season and time of day.
Thursday 11th June 20 - John Harrison
Buildings in the Yorkshire Landscape
Pen & wash
John’s favoured subject matter features built structures in the wider landscape,
exploring the contrast between the man-made and the natural.
His style is of strong line drawings in ink, with watercolour washes
applied in varying degrees to focus the viewer’s eye.
Thursday 9th July 20 - Phil White
Head & Shoulders
Phil just loves painting in oils! Especially the human figure and faces!
He oozes enthusiasm but has a relaxed approach to life and painting.
Thursday 13th August 20
Thursday 1st October 20 - Patrick Smith
A fundamental part of Patrick’s work is plein air painting, capturing
the mood and colours of the landscape to produce inspiring
works that provoke the imagination.
Thursday 12th November 20 - Mike Sibley
Mike’s style of working produces detailed monochrome drawings of animals,
birds and people, which take mainly hours of painstaking work. As this approach doesn’t make for an interesting demonstration, he will be sharing with us the techniques he uses and encouraging us to have a go ourselves.
