Newsletter 07/22 July 2022

Dear Club Member,

Here comes July already. The year is flying by and we hope you are busy painting, for the best is yet to come.

The next outdoor painting day is at Kirkham Abbey on Monday 11th July, meet at 10.00 am.   There is a charge, but there are attractive opportunities in the local area also.  Get in touch if a lift is required.

You have another opportunity to paint outdoors at Thornton Le Dale on Tuesday 26th July, meet in the car park 10.00 am.  Come and have a go, it is great fun.

Our main event of the month is the demonstration by renowned international artist, Robert Dutton. The technique is mixed media, a combination of watercolour, ink, gouache and pastel.

Robert creates dynamic, expressive exciting work. Check out www.rdcreative.co.uk

This demonstration takes place on Thursday 14th July at 7pm in the Mill Suite.

Please note the Rotary has an exhibition on in the Whistler Hall, hence the change of venue.

Roberts demonstration is a foretaste for our October workshop, Saturday 22nd, bookings are now being taken.

The subsidized cost is £35, with a £10 deposit, when you can, please.

The 3rd Wednesday group will be meeting on the 20th July at 7pm in the Mill Suite. The subject is “figure/portrait drawing in summer attire”.  You can of course work on your own project.

Your committee is busy preparing for exhibition in September.  To encourage our newer members to enter, we are running a presentation and framing event on our August Club night.  Your questions will all be answered!

If you find the idea of having a section of the exhibition dedicated to newer members attractive, please let us know your views.

We are also planning to hold “meet the artist events” on the first Saturday, Sunday and Monday, where artists can be available to discuss their work and ideas with the public.  Please let us know if this interests you.

There is a small group of artists who meet privately (not associated with the club) every Monday afternoon, all year, except Bank Holidays. It’s self-help, but assistance is always at hand. There is room for a couple more participants, if you are interested speak to Sue Broughton. We share the cost of the room and accept drop ins

Happy painting from your VOPAC Committee
